Two Hardin County Schools School Resource Officers have earned state awards for their dedication to student and staff safety.

Central Hardin High School SRO Larry Robinson has earned the Kentucky Association of School Resource Officers' School Resource Officer of the Year Award and North Hardin High School SRO Timmy Walker has earned the KYASRO Region II SRO of the Year Award.

Officer Robinson is an Elizabethtown Police Department officer and has been at CHHS since 2016.  Deputy Walker, a Hardin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, has worked with HCS since 2022.  He served as the SRO at Radcliff Elementary School before his time at NHHS.  

“Officer Robinson’s personality and passion for students make him uniquely suited to be a successful SRO,” CHHS Principal Tim Isaacs said.  “Our students see Officer Robinson as an ally and an advocate.  They are quick to seek him out with questions and concerns. They have no doubt he will do what he tells them. I cannot overstate the positive impact he has on our campus. 

“Deputy Walker is a professional who is proactive, approachable, reliable and builds extremely strong relationships with students and staff,” NHHS Principal Jeff Maysey said.  “We are fortunate to have him as the SRO at North Hardin High School.  He is leaving a true and lasting legacy on our students.  His ability to create and nurture positive relationships helps students see him as a mentor.”

“Deputy Walker is professional, compassionate and the definition of a community helper,” Radcliff Principal Dan Mahon added.  “He is always building relationships and serves as a role model for students.” 

“It takes a unique individual to pursue a career in law enforcement and not everyone is suited to serve as a School Resource Officer,” Hardin County Sheriff John Ward said.  “We, along with Hardin County Schools, are proud of all our SROs and are thrilled to see Deputy Timmy Walker recognized as the KYASRO Region 2 SRO of the Year. Deputy Walker consistently exceeds expectations.”

HCS school resource officers are officers from the Elizabethtown Police Department, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and the Radcliff Police Department.  

“Our school resource officers are more than law enforcement officers,” HCS Superintendent Teresa Morgan noted.  “They know our students by name.  They have fun with students, engage in learning activities, attend extracurricular events and participate in the daily life of the school family because they are part of the school’s family.  The positive rapport they create with students is truly a difference-maker.  They are ready to sacrifice everything for our schools.  We simply cannot adequately describe our appreciation for our school resource officers.”
